Countries have various different systems controlling the import of products. Often authorization from certification bodies is required. Before entering a new market with your product it is important to know its market access regulations.

Course description

 

 

When you export to a country you must fulfill the norms and standards of that country. Therefore, before starting exporting any product to other countryin the SADC region, you must be familiar with its norms and standards.

 

This course will help you to familiarize yourself with the main obstacules to access a market: tariff and non-tariff barriers. It includes:

 

  • Tariff barriers to trade in goods

    • Customs duties or tariffs

    • Negotiations on tariff reduction

 

 

  • Non-tariff barriers to trade in goods

    • Quantitative restrictions

    • Rules on quantitative restrictions

    • Administration of quantitative restrictions

    • Other non –tariff barriers.

    • Tariff concession and schedules of concession

    • Protection of tariff concession

    • Modification or withdrawal of tariff concession;

    • Imposition of customs duties;

    • Other duties and charges
