Market access to trade services

Trade in Services refers to the sale and delivery of an intangible product, called a service, between a producer and consumer. Trade in services takes place between a producer and consumer that are based in different countries.

Botswanan tourism, telephone or financial services can be "exported" beyond the country's borders. How?

Course description

International trade and investment in services are an increasingly important part of global commerce. Advances in information and telecommunication technologies have expanded the scope of services that can be traded cross-border. More and more people are traveling abroad to consume tourism, education, and medical services, and to supply services ranging from construction to software development. In fact, services are the fastest growing components of the global economy, and Botswana has many services to offer.

International transactions, however, continue to be impeded by policy barriers, especially to foreign investment and the movement of service-providing individuals.

This course will help you to familiarize yourself with the main obstacules to access a service market.

It includes:

  • Market access barriers to trade in services
